Profile
The Manitowoc Plant is the original site of the first vegetable canning plant in Wisconsin, with the incorporation of the Albert Landreth Seed Company in 1887. Lakeside brand sweet peas produced here were the first commercial canned vegetable production in the region.
The plant has been continually and significantly modernized throughout the years. Today, the Manitowoc Plant is a major bean and root crop site for Lakeside, with production of a wide variety of canned and frozen vegetable products. Beyond that, an extensive line of sauces and specialty vegetable blends are produced for customers under exclusive contracts.
Because of its central location in a prime vegetable growing area, Manitowoc serves as a regional center for field operations in eastern Wisconsin. A modern fleet of bean and root crop harvesting equipment is operated from this location.
